GLEBE HOUSE... Annual Report 2017-2018

Below is an excerpt of the 2017-18 Glebe House annual report. The report outlines the
wonderful ability that the Encapsulator platform has and the impressive use of technology in
the AOD sector. Providing a great opportunity to document, track and reflect on their life
transforming journey.

Another program element, the video time capsule, shows Glebe House’s innovative approach to
treatment.
For more than two years, clients have been invited to record a private video of themselves during their
time in residence. While not mandatory, the majority have willingly participated. More than 70 clients
have so far made recordings where they answer a battery of 20 questions about their lives in recovery,
feelings, goals and hopes for the future. The recordings are stored securely and confidentially. They can
only be viewed by the participant, with a recommendation that videos remain stored for two years
before reviewing.

Our evaluation of this innovative therapeutic tool shows it to be a highly effective instrument for self-
reflection and goal setting. The video journal allows clients to express freely how they are going
and where they want their lives to head. “If you watch this in two years’ time, what would you say to
yourself?” is an example question.
The video time capsule tool has received positive feedback from most clients and some have now viewed
their original recordings, noting how far they have come!

Additional recordings will be possible to create an ongoing video journal in the future iteration of the
therapeutic tool, which has been transformed to a web-based platform with secure login and storage of
data. This platform, now registered as Encapsulator, provides an engaging means for men to self-reflect
and monitor progress. It allows men to own their recovery and, in the often-fragile lives of those in early
recovery, becomes a channel for hope.

For more information on how your service can incorporate the Digital Time Capsules into your
existing case management programs please contact Danny on admin@encapsulator.io or

LETTING GO

Letting go is different for everyone depending on why the separation is occurring. It affects each of us with different emotional states and for different periods of time.

For some it’s letting go of a loved one who has always been by your side, for others it could be breaking free of a trauma bond, releasing a part of yourself that doesn’t bring you happiness or growth anymore or choosing a different path for your life that rids you of an emotional attachment to another, maybe it’s a culmination of all of these.

Regardless of your need to let go or your desire to feel free, the idea of this is never easy but it is a core experience we each face in this lifetime and from this program we reach out a hand to you in the form of video journal and offer you the opportunity to let go in a constructive way and adapt the idea of valuing the memories, appreciating the lessons learnt and understanding that every goodbye can offer you a new beginning.
